Masters in Teaching and Learning/ Educational Leadership


The MEL/MTL is offered in partnership with Birmingham City University. It aims to support teacher’s professional development through research which facilitates reflection on existing practice, innovation and evaluation. It enables teachers to explore aspects of their work in detail to help them gain a deeper understanding and extended knowledge. On this course, teachers will have the opportunity to collaborate, discuss and share their findings with local colleagues to develop their own practice, and teaching and learning across the locality.

Course Content and Delivery:

  • Opportunity to choose which pathway suits your needs - educational leadership or teaching and learning.

  • All modules are focused around practice-based research and are linked to the workplace.

  • Modules are focused around aspects of teaching and learning or educational leadership linked to your personal, professional, institutional and developmental priorities.

  • Programme is taught, assessed and accredited by Birmingham City university lecturers. The course is delivered through taught sessions and tutorials delivered at Denbigh School.

  • Online learning resources, journals and materials are provided by Birmingham City University and MTL/MEL students have access to the Birmingham City University library.

  • OTP, NPQML, NPQSL, NPQH experience can be used to form the basis of one of the modules.

FEES: 20 credit module - £450. 60 credits for a PGCE could be transferred over the next academic year.

To complete your masters, you need to achieve 180 credits.
